Parents look at them as if they are really a weapon. Honestly, we do not exactly blame them, but there are teenagers out there that are mature enough to have one. What you need to do is prove to them that you are responsible and know the safety rules behind these guns. So you’ve asked your parents for an airsoft gun and they’ve said you’re not old enough and might get hurt. You think they’re being silly, but telling them so isn’t going to help. And you can’t buy an airsoft gun yourself, even if you have the money, because the law says only adults can buy them. So how are you going to get them to believe you can handle one of these weapons?

Children under’ are not allowed to use these guns without adult supervision. That’s not just your rule; it’s the law. If your child cannot accept this, he is not ready to own one of these guns. The law is there because these guns are weapons, not toys, and can cause injury if not used properly.

First, promise your parents that you will never take your gun to school or show it off in public. Doing these things can be very dangerous; you can get kicked out of school or shot by a police officer if you break this rule. In fact, you should always carry your gun in a gun case and never use it other than on an airsoft range.

So don’t show them off in public. Instead, use a gun case to carry them to and from the range. Depending on where you live, it may be required by law to do so.

On the range, make sure you wear protective gear. At a minimum, you should wear goggles, to protect your eyes. You can also wear bulletproof vests, hip and arm guards, knee protectors, steel toe combat boots, and leather gloves. It may take time to get into all of this protective gear, but it will cover all areas of your skin, minimizing the risk of accidental injury.

In addition to wearing protective gear, you should always pay close attention to what’s behind, beyond, and on each side of your target. Don’t shoot if there are obstacles or people too close to the target.

If you supervise your child and teach him to use his new gun safely, there is no reason not to allow him to have one. Only you know, however, if your child is mature enough to have an airsoft gun.
